[Ubuntu] Install WordPress on AWS EC2 Ubuntu 14.04

I change my blog from google blogger to wordpress recently. First of all, I got an Amazon Web Service account, then I created 2 instances(EC2 and RDS), finally, I installed wordpress on EC2. I will list instructions in the following steps.

1. Create AWS EC2 instance
2. Install Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP) stack on Ubuntu 14.04
3. Install WordPress on Ubuntu 14.04
4. Setup FTP server for wordpress
5. (Option) Create AWS RDS instance and connect to WordPress

1.0 Install Open JDK7

$ sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk

1.1 Install Oracle JDK7

$ sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer

You can choose one of the above JDKs to install on your Ubuntu12.04, but if you install Oracle JDK7, maybe it will occur compilation fail.

To mount the CD image and extract the contents:

  1. Power on the virtual machine.
  2. Log into the virtual machine using an account with administrator or root privileges.
  3. Go to Virtual Machine > Install VMware Tools (or VM > Install VMware Tools).
  4. Open the VMware Tools CD mounted on the Ubuntu desktop.
  5. Right-click the file name that is similar to VMwareTools.x.x.x-xxxx.tar.gz, click Extract to, and select the Ubuntu Desktop to save the extracted contents.
  6. The vmware-tools-distrib folder is extracted to the Ubuntu Desktop.
